The Salem Parks and Recreation Department and the Salem Worlds War Memorial Building Association invite you to use, discover and enjoy the many opportunities and facilities we have to offer. Containing over 300 acres of ground, it's easy to find something fun and exciting year-round. For those that like the water we offer a lake for boating and fishing, a large outdoor swimming pool in the summer or just come, relax and feed the ducks at the duck pond. Like sports?. We provide softball leagues, basketball leagues, fishing tournaments and much more. If you're more interested in participating without all the competition, then enjoy one of our 8 ball fields, 4 basketball courts, 6 tennis courts and 2 volleyball courts on your own time and at your own pace. When it gets too cold outside, rent the gym at the Memorial Building and continue playing your favorite sport all winter long. Now for the nature lovers. Pavilions and picnic tables are found throughout the parks making them a perfect lunch stop during a busy working day. Pavilions of all sizes are easy and inexpensive to rent for family reunions, meetings or parties of all kinds and sizes. Take a nice, long walk into the woods on our nature trail and enjoy the wildlife. For those of you that enjoy good music, we have a "band shell" and provide a concert almost every weekend throughout the summer. Arts and crafts shows, 5 and 10k races, car shows, antique shows, and many, many other fun activities for both kids and adults alike can be found taking place in our parks at any given time. Click on the EVENTS menu at the top of the page for a listing of upcoming events.
